Colonisation has turned many of our families into generational alcholics, a deliberate policy to introduce our people to alcohol in the 1840's ensured that many of our people became alcoholics, drug addicts when drugs became available and child molesters and rapists both within and outside their immediate families. Within our tribes many pretend abuse is not happening. The victims are often treated as though they mentally unhinged and therefore should be ignored. Our police pick and choose which rape and abuse cases actually make it to court. My sister is currently trying to have one of our brothers who raped her charged, she is now in her 5th year of trying to get these charges heard in a court of law. CURRENTLY THE CHARGE IS STUCK IN NZ'S POLICE PROSECUTORS OFFICE! ALL INDIGENOUS PEOPLE NEED TO SPEAK OUT ON ALL FORMS OF ABUSE DON'T ALLOW OUR GOVERNMENTS TO CONDONE ABUSE BY INACTION IN THEIR POLICE & COURT DEPARTMENTS.
